Tuesday, March 31 2009 (Day 403)
I have decided after much consideration and thought to put "Clyde's Progress" on a hiatus. Dad is doing well, not much improvement, he has hit a plateau and seems to be staying there. I feel as if what I write will be repetitive. I will continue to do a report occasionally. If you would like to receive that let me know at Reppiks327@yahoo.com. I will add you to a list.
Mom and Dad are both doing well and settling in to their new home. The weather is breaking, so we are able to get Dad out more which is helping his mood and depression.
I want to Thank everyone for all the support, prayers and concern over the past year, the support has been amazing, Please keep them in your prayers and thoughts
God Bless All of You;

Sunday, March 22 2009 (Day 395)
Dad is quite tired today.... we had a looooong day yesterday. Mom, Kathy and I took him to Chesaning, we thought we would check out the flea market. Bad idea, it was cold and packed, so we loaded him back up and went to Bob and Dee's for lunch. Aunt Nancy, Uncle Jim, Aunt Helen,Fred and Betty were there too. Dad enjoyed visiting for about three hours, then got uncomfortable; after letting him lay down for an hour we headed home, Dad was worn out but extremely happy. I asked him this morning if he was sore... "NOPE", but as I got him up he said "Okay I am". It is so great to hear him interact and converse, he is quieter than he used to be, but when he has something to say he can and will say it. 90% of the time everyone can understand him, he does speak more quietly though.
Mom is fighting her usual "spring allergies" so she has been stuffy and sleepy; other than that she is doing well. Her check-up at the kidney clinic went well and all is doing fine.
Please remember them in your thoughts and prayers through out your day....

Tuesday March 17, 2009 (Day 390)
I still can post about Dad and his remarkable progress, he continues to move forward and is really enjoying this weather. We have had him out a few times for "walks". His buggy does quite well on the sidewalks and streets, although, he says it "pulls to the right".
Dad continues to be full of surprises, his mind is still super sharp and he is getting more and more able to express himself. He still has "down" days; but for the most part tries to keep upbeat. I have noticed though that he will put on a "happier face" around Mom, and will talk more to Kathy and me about what is bothering him. He says this weather break is really helping his mood and he is feeling better about getting out and about.
Please keep them in your prayers and thoughts.......

Monday, March 9 2009 (Day 382)
Good Morning Everyone; Dad had a great weekend. Friday, instead of leaving Dad with the respite aide, Mom, Kathy and I took Dad to Meijers for a shopping trip! Dad was quite nervous at , but when we got there he relaxed and had a good time. We found a fishing pole that with a little modification he should be able to cast and reel back in. I think Dad realized that everyone wasn't going to stare at him. He did quite well maneuvering his scooter around the store and the usual obstacles.
Yesterday Kathy got him up and into his recliner and then rearranged his room, trying to get us a little more space. She asked Dad if he needed anything else he said "I need a haircut too", so that's our plan for today. I have been working a few 2nd shifts so Kathy has been helping with Dad this week.
We have been working with Mom trying to show her how to work the Van Lift and strap the chair in, hopefully she won't have to take him alone, I just want her to know how if she has too.
Mom is feeling better, I think she had a case of "cabin fever" and was getting antsy.
Please keep them in your prayers and thoughts.....

Thursday, March 5 2009 (Day 378)
Dad is doing better and quite happy that it seems to be warming up. He has decided that he and Kathy are going to start "walking" in a few weeks.
Dads therapist was in today, we decided that he would discontinue in-home physical therapy. After his next appointment with Dr. Ahmed, we may start an out-patient regimen. Will have to wait and see on that. His occupational therapy will continue another two weeks at least. Julie (his home care nurse) is going to discharge him on Friday. Although Dad is still, mostly, totally dependant on us he has reached a plateau and probably will not regain much more physical ability.
Mom went through an ear infection, and some sinus problems; she is doing much better. She sure has been and still is a real trooper. She sure tries her damnedest to help him as much as possible.
Things are doing better, but, please remember them in your prayers and thoughts......

Thursday, February 26 2009 (Day 371)
WOW I AM FINALLY BACK !!!! I have been down for a while, between
my new job, Working with Dad and a severe PC issue (Both PC's in the shop at once) I haven't been able to post..... "No news is good news" right??
It has been over a Year since his stroke, some days it doesn't seem that long and other times it seems like forever. But I am happy to still have him.
Dad has been progressing quite well, everything checked out fine at his doctors appointment, Dr Ahmed was actually quite impressed with his condition, we actually got to do away with three prescriptions! Dad has been working with his therapist and making progress, slow but sure. He can help much more and is getting more independent everyday. He really looks forward to working with Billie, she is teaching him to do more for himself. He sure beams with pride when he accomplishes a new task.
Mom is still doing well, she is holding up and getting around fine, she is getting quite competent with caring for Dad. They are still a "cute" couple and starting to get their life back...
I have to get Dad ready for the night and head for work.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing.....
