Dad had another very good day!! He is very alert and is responding well. Beth (his nurse) told him something about Penny tonight and he smiled!! His right side didn't move as much but it did none the less. He was interacting with us, by squeezing our hands. When Mom leaned in to kiss him he tried lifted his head up towards her. He wanted to hold Mom and my hands at the same time, and he is very frustrated and seems to understand what happened to him. Dad is very frustrated at not being able to communicate. Beth said they will try a "word board" with him tomorrow.
As far as Dads meds, he is only on a saline drip for hydration and injections Dad is getting very little assistance from the ventilator, it pretty much just makes sure he doesn't slow down to much, his oxygen level is holding quite well still. They are just giving him meds to keep any pain in check and a sedative to let him sleep at night. Dad still doesn't seem to have much concept of time, I would think that would be quite a good thing at this stage.
We are taking Penny to see him again in the morning, when we told him about that his eyes really lit up.
