Today they tried a "pass valve" on Dads trach, it is one that he can push a valve and should be able to talk, they showed him how to work it but he couldn't or wouldn't. He is doing quite well on his t-line. She said that they will try again in the AM.
I did get a chance to talk to Dads therapy doctor tonight. He is very pleased with Dad's progress. He said there was a very good chance of Dad being moved to his next step within the next few days, which will be Covenant Rehab (in the old Osteopathic Hospital) they have evaluated him and been working with him all along, so that is a great step.
Dad indicates that he is in no pain, his left leg is uncomfortable though. Melissa said he had a great day and he has not had anything for pain. The nurses have figured out they have to read his body language, when they ask him if is hurting he shakes his head "no". They are leaving his foam boots off more, the bedsore on his heel is healing well and he has no new ones.
Today was a tough one for Mom, we found out this morning Aunt Pete passed during the night, she had been ill for a while. Mom is being strong, once again really showing what she is made of.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing for Mom and Dad, and an extra prayer for Uncle Jack and Aunt Pete's family, Thanks
