Sunday April 27, 2008

Dad is progressing so well, it's almost frightening. He is trying to talk quite a bit, and understands everything and remembers even more. We were discussing his right arm, which is still paralyzed and has no feeling, he didn't understand why. He and I went over the type of stroke he had and where it was and the damage it caused. When I told him it didn't affect his mind or memory too much he replied "NOPE". We talked about his motor control abilities and the advances he has made in just a week, he felt much better. He says "I will walk and I WILL fish"
Tim and Sue Higgins along with their kids were in to see him today, he really enjoyed the visit and remembered all of their names. He tried to tell a story but couldn't get it out to well. But he sure was happy to see them. After they left he told Mom and I all their names again and wanted to be sure they signed his book.
Dad has a great appetite, He is eating quite well, he needs help as his left hand shakes quite a bit. He says the food isn't the greatest, but says really he missed eating. He gets tapioca with every meal and loves it. He wants some "good" iced tea though.
I know the advances my Dad has made is a big relief for everyone, he is doing so well and is so determined to beat this obstacle, like he told Tim today "it's not as bad as bootcamp". As long as he can keep his sense of humor and attitude he will make it.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing, it's not over yet.....
Love to All;
