Tuesday April 8, 2008

Dad seems to be doing well again today. This morning while we were there he was quite alert and interactive. Between the time we left and Uncle Bob and Aunt Dee got there he had physical therapy, so he was quite tired and not as responsive. Tonight he was still tired but more alert. I asked Dad if he was hurting anywhere he reached toward his leg, it took me a while but finally figured he wanted those foam bed boots off. He also mouthed he "wants to go home". When we were leaving tonight I asked if wanted anything, when he smiled, I said other than going home he smiled again and shook his head.
Helen (his nurse over the last few days) says he is doing quite well over all. He was on his last four hour session of strictly oxygen. He has made it thru four sessions of that, now he has to go 48 hours on oxygen and they will take the ventilator away. After that they begin to work his trach down until it's closed. So hopefully soon he can start trying to talk.
Dad has made so much progress over the past seven days it is hard to believe, I am just over- whelmed by the support from his family and friends. I will also be forever grateful for the staff at all of the hospitals and ambulance crews. Thank You All
Keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing his way
Love to All;
