Monday April 7 2008

Seeing Dad tonight was great. He is very alert and feeling better. Once again his eyes are bright and you can tell he is in there. The therapist had him sitting in a chair for about 2hrs today. They are also really working on his breathing, for two sessions of four hours each he was on oxygen only then back to CPAP. Dad has to go through several of these sessions with no problems then he can be off completely, they say he is doing well on that also. Everything else is going fine and they are working on his depression.
It is unbelievable the progress he has made in a week. He is mouthing words and we play charades a lot, which frustrates him immensely. After several rounds of guessing Kathy and I finally figured out that he wanted to know why he was there and what happened. (I had told him before, but that was awhile ago) He seemed to understand that he is doing better. He then wanted to know "How long?" He seemed very surprised to learn it is April now. Although he has a very difficult time communicating, Dad can say so much with his eyes and forehead. Like I keep saying Dad's sense of humor is still very much intact.
Keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing his way....
Love to All;
