Dad had another really great day!!! He was very alert and active. He even watched a little TV. Uncle Franklin and Aunt Donna were in this afternoon. I didn't get a chance to talk to them, they did leave a note that Dad was awake and aknowledged them. He seems to remember most things and people, anything that happened less than around a year ago he needs some prodding but seems to remember.
Dad is realizing the condition he is in and wants to know what, why and when. He is also getting very depressed and emotional. His nurse tonight asked him a few questions and paged his Doctor to see about some meds to help him head that off. At the same time he still is being humorous with his actions and gestures. He touched a spot on my chin, I told him I needed to learn to shave. Dad smiled and rolled his eyes. He also brushes Moms cheek and mouths I love You.
Dads health for the most part is doing quite well. His vitals are still holding stable. His lungs are clearing up and the fluids that are suctioned out are much better. His ventilator is still attached, but he is on the track to be weaned soon. Dads digestive system is working correctly, but, he can't burp and that really frustrates him.
It seems good to be able to post positive comments here, I know he will have set backs occasionally, we just have to embrace the good days and be strong through his off days.
