Dad had another fairly decent day, They finally took the ventilator machine completely out of his room. He still has the trach in, but he is only getting flowing oxygen. From this point they start weaning the oxygen; after that they can start closing down his trach.
Melissa told us today that Dad has feeling in his right leg about half way up his calf, so that is a recent change and good news too. His right arm is still not responding at all. He indicates that it is not as uncomfortable to sit in the chair. Now that he is off the ventilator, when he is in his chair, he can be moved out by the nurses station for a change of view.
Don and I had Dad smiling a couple of times tonight, he still appreciates humor, He is getting better at mouthing words and different gestures to communicate and Mom and I starting to understand more. Dad is very clear with "want to go home" then he looks at me and grins.
Mom is still doing fairly well, she has a load on her mind right now with Dad and trying to plan their future and her sister Pete (in Utah) is not doing well. She is being strong and putting on a brave front.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing their way .........
