Saturday April 19, 2008

I once again apologize for not posting last night, it was slightly hectic around here.
I am happy to be able to say, Dad is doing very well. Dad seems to be settling into his new environment. They are working with him on his therapy. He said they him standing (they get him up and hold him there), they are also moving his arm for him and exercising his legs. He is beginning to talk more, although it is still terribly hard for him. Generally, what he does say is very faint and hard to hear. Seeing Dad is going to be a big surprise to many, he has lost so much weight, he does look better and I am sure it will be easier for him and on him.
While Dad was listening to Gail on the phone he said very clearly, "Sucks to be here". He still smiles often and will shake his head at my attempts at humor. We took Dad his birthday presents and the many cards he got, he was very happy with them. He can now wear lounge pants and shorts, so he is very pleased about that. We were told that in the long run Dad was fortunate where the bleed was, in that he has a higher chance of recovering the use of his limbs and it should not be a permanent affect on his mind and abilities there.
Thank You to everyone that remembered Dad on his birthday and to Aunt Nancy for the bit in the paper, it really meant a bunch to him.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing his way.....
Love to All;
Skip
