Today is the end of Dads first week at his new center, he is making quite amazing progress. His speech is making great progress here. He gets along well with the staff and some of the other residents. He is making great strides with his speech, he can pretty much carry on a conversation with you. When he gets tired he is harder to understand, tonight he was telling me something, I couldn't understand a word, but he was laughing and snickering all the way through it.
His PT keeps us well informed on his progress with therapy and says he is coming along well, his right arm is still numb and his right leg is numb, but he is able to move it some. He sat up on the therapy bed for 30 minutes today pretty much unassisted. He is still getting shock therapy on the right side, which seems to be helping.
Dad is very "routine oriented" which is good but frustrating at the same time. He wants things in a certain place and a certain way. He got back in his old room yesterday, so he relaxed some then, they also put him near the window and seems to enjoy that much. Mom asked him if he wanted a bird feeder for the window, he replied "no they'll just mess on the window".
Uncle Bob, Aunt Dee, Mom and I where in today while he ate lunch, which he eats in the community room. He can feed himself somewhat, but is quite self-conscious about doing so in front of a group. He wants me to try to be in as often as I can to be there at meal time to help him.
Every day we seem to see such great and amazing progress it truly shows you that miracles do happen. Dad says he would rather have his mind sharp and be able to communicate, before his mobility. He is so strong and determined we all should be VERY proud of him.
Keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing his way....
