As normal Dad is improving steadily. We had him home for about three hours on Fathers Day, he still gets a little anxious out of the center, but seemed to enjoy himself. He said it was the best Fathers Day in years. The weather co-operated nicely, we did grill outside and he got pie and ice cream. Dad is able to help me a little with his transfers, Kathy, Cortney and Fran also can help so he is more comfortable. He did get a chance to talk to Roger and family and also a quick call to Jim Morrow, which Dad really enjoyed. He sometimes seems to talk better on the phone than in person.
He is still improving in therapy, he said Saturday he stood (in the "rack") for 15-20 minutes. He is also getting a lot of trunk therapy and hand/eye coordination. He says he enjoys therapy here and it seems he is trying to please Toni and Kimawa. He is really trying and has set himself some realistic goals which he is intent on reaching.
Health wise Dad is doing well; his stomach is healing well, his appetite is healthy but not overwhelming, so his weight is maintaining itself. His hip is occasionally sore but not hurting any longer. He still has days when he is down, but they are getting farther apart. Since the stroke Dads vision has changed, Wednesday they will have an optometrist come and see about new glasses.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing his way....
