Friday July 4, 2008

Dad had a busy past couple of days. He has been pushing himself as usual in therapy. He is having a hard time standing, and is getting frustrated by that. He is pedaling the half-bike and that seems to be getting easier for him. He is having speech 4-5 days a week now, instead of three, that really seems like it is making a difference for him.
Dennis and Carolyn were up to see him Thursday, he had a nice visit with them, Friday morning Wayne and Cheri stopped in for a visit; seeing someone other than Mom, Kathy and me must have been what he needed to get him out of his slump.
Dad didn't want their dinner tonight, so Mom told him she was making the same thing she did the night of his stroke, did he want to try it again? his response was "what the heck... I still have one good arm left!". Mom and Don went back up tonight to watch the fireworks (you can see most of them from the parking lot) Dad seemed to enjoy them, hard to tell at times what is in his mind. Tomorrow night they are 40 minutes, we'll see how Dad feels and how I feel, maybe Kathy and I will take him out then.
Dad is still improving, he still has his sense of humor and the old determination is there; He may spend quite a while in a wheelchair and need ALOT of help but he can do so much for himself now. Compared to a few weeks ago when he could hardly hold his head up, let alone talk. It is proof as to how amazing our bodies are and how resilient a person can be.
Please remember him in your prayers and thoughts
Love to All;
