Dad has had a hard few days, He and Mom have had some EXTREMELY hard decisions to make over the past few weeks and reality hit Dad this week. I have not discussed it on this blog, as we felt this was a family matter. Mom and Dad have decided to sell thier house. We had a ADA evaluation done on it. The decision was that it would be to difficult and expensive for them to remodel and retrofit for Dad. It is hard to see my parents home and all of our childhood home being sold to someone else. It is time for a new chapter, we can still keep the memories of the past 42 years.
Dad will be coming home from the Rehab Center in early September. Heartland will be his last stage of his hospitalization for this stroke. They have a few irons in the fire as to what their plans are for the future, as soon as they know what is going on for sure I will relay this information.
Dads physical therapist told me today that they have to keep slowing him down. He is pushing himself so hard and gets so frustrated when he doesn't see any improvement. They are working on getting him to stand in a walker, Although with only one working arm he will be able stand with it, yet not able to move so he can use it to walk.
Tonight Dad was in a little better mood. He was talking about memories and such from when they bought the house and some of the experiences we had as a family living in a "home under-construction" for the entire time we were there. I will say that I look back at it now and realize what I took from this and learned from it. (OKAY enough dwelling)
Please remember Mom and Dad need thier prayers and support now as much as ever.
Love to All;
