Monday, November 17 2008 (Day 264)

Once again I can report that Dad is making great strides toward improvement. His strength is steadily improving as is his speech. He has been using his power chair around the facility along with his manual chair. Dad's speech is getting much better, he will actually carry a conversation with you now that is understandable and has some continuity to it. He still is having a hard time with dates and such, we are working on his birth date with him. Dad can spell his name now though. You see this in writing I guess it seems sad, but we need to realize what a miracle this really is.
Last night we had him watching Jeff Dunham (he is a ventriloquist) he was actually laughing. Since his stroke Dad has chuckled and snickered a few times, it was great to actually hear "laughter" from him. Dad says he is ready to come home now, although he is still VERY dependant, I think he is more ready now than he was last time, He is at a level of ability that he was at before he got pneumonia back in August.
Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing his way.........
Love to All;
Skip
