Once again it is a late post, Dad is doing well tonight, He responded well to Debbie by squeezing her hand, and seemed to squeezed harder when I asked if he knew who she was. This morning I was putting lotion on his feet and legs, I touched the sole of his right foot and he jerked it away. Now that he is being weaned off the Fentanyl (I mis-typed the other day it has been 2 weeks not three) he is more alert more often. They are still giving him Ativan to keep him relaxed.
Tonight around 7pm they installed his feeding tube, it was done bedside, he responded to Wayne and Cheri Bowen within 30 minutes of the procedure. Dad now has all the tubes out of his mouth so he should be much more comfortable.
They finally got his trach straightened out, they actually had to "create" one for him. (Cindy wasn't you; you are safe... I'll vouch for ya!!) Now that they have that straightened out he is breathing easier and not fighting it as much, he can actually "cough" now.
Dad is getting to the point where we will be able to spend more time with him and stimulate his mind more. Hopefully by being able to do that we be able to help with his recovery. He is still stable, the fluid from his lungs is clearing up and the swelling in his limbs is going down.
I know I am the eternal optimist but I would say there is light at the end of the tunnel and he is doing better.... keep up the prayers and have faith.
Love to All
