Over the past few days the center has admitted quite a few new residents, I see the condition some of the people are in I realize how fortunate we are. Some are angry and combative. A few just sit there like they are waiting for the meter to run out. I feel guilty for thinking the way I do, but I am glad Dad is not that way. Observing this though, makes me realize how fortunate we are that Dad is recovering the way he is. He has come so far. Two months ago we were told to start looking at nursing homes, Now Dad is improving and making visible progress daily.
Uncle Jim and Aunt Helen were in to see him today; they arrived when he had just a few minutes of therapy left. His PT was working on his right leg, he needed to move it, Dad struggled and "talked" to it, you could see it was trying just not quite enough to do it on his though. We then went to the dining room and had a nice visit; Dad talked some, but right now he would rather listen. Dad says he really does enjoy company.
Tonight we had "fast food" again. He is getting more particular about what he eats. Dad used to eat the meals they put in front of him, now, he says "we had fish for lunch. I don't want it for dinner too" His sweet tooth is smaller too. The festival is across the street from my house and he wants us to bring him "a quarter of an elephant ear".
In the past few days Dad received a few cards in the mail; he has us open them and he will read them to us now. Occasionally he will stumble on a word or two, but, for the most part he does very well. I think most of the time he is having trouble seeing or making sense of a word rather than not knowing it.
Although Dad is improving, he can still use the prayers, so please keep them coming his way, we all know the support from everyone is part of the reason for his recovery.
Love to All;
